John A.W. Nicks
Mr. Nicks competed for England until his early 20s. He and his sister won the British, European and World Figure Skating Championships in 1953 and represented the United Kingdom in two Olympic Games. He then went to Canada to coach. Shortly after the tragic 1961 plane crash that killed many of the top US skaters and coaches, Nicks was called to coach in the US. With ten trips to the Olympics with US athletes, Nicks has earned the reputations as one of the best coaches in the world. Among the top skaters coached by Mr. Nicks are Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner, Tiffany Chin, Jenni Meno and Todd Sand, and Christopher Bowman. Plus todays rising stars 2000 US Silver Medalist Sasha Cohen and 1999 US Silver Medalist Naomi Nari Nam. Mr. Nicks was recently inducted into the
